LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome
to tAPir, the web's
oldest site delivering free services and support to those who suffer from anxiety
disorders. tAPir is a true grassroots project, unaffiliated with any
business or organization and created and sustained by its users. Because of this, you
won't find professional counseling here, nor will you find guaranteed resolution to your
personal situation. What you will find is a non-programmatic, unbiased self-help resource
where you can interact with tens of thousands of others who share an interest in anxiety
and its treatment. You will also find open and friendly information from people who
actually live with these disorders.
tAPir is a public service with the primary
aim being one of connection and support for people with anxiety disorders. The secondary
goal is the discussion of aetiology and therapeutic resolution. tAPir does not promulgate
any particular ideological perspective and is strictly ecumenical. Patience and tolerance
are expected. tAPir scrupulously avoids dogmatism in trying to present you with a wide,
non-programmatic resource. It is policy here that no single therapeutic approach is good
for everyone and that the purpose of this site is to encourage the exchange of a broad
scope of information.
tAPir has been around since the early days of
the web, having been started in 1993 as a text-only website known as "Noodles'
Panic-Anxiety page." Over the years it has grown tremendously,
serving hundreds of thousands of users while winning dozens of awards. Most
recently, tAPir was listed as a top 100 health site by FORBES magazine.
We are glad you have found this site and are confident you'll
find some area of tAPir helpful to your recovery. We're also interested
in your comments and questions so we can continue to provide you with the web's best
anxiety self-help resource.
yours,
the tAPir Director
